After yesterday, I wasn’t planning to do much exercise today. The most I thought I’d do was to log my weekly stats on the Wii Fit.
So, I logged my stats and then did a couple of the training activities before stopping. But I suddenly remembered that I have another Wii training programme. It’s called Wii Active (by EA Sports) and I bought it years ago but have barely used it. On a whim, I decided to put it on…and ended up doing a full 25min workout!
The disc comes with accessories: a leg strap to hold the nun-chuck (which you have to use throughout the session) and a resistance band (which is a bit basic and you have to tie yourself – I might end up buying a proper one).
A virtual personal trainer takes you through the set exercises (in no particular order):
Running with kick-ups
Lateral shoulder lifts (using the band)
Bicep curls (using the band)
Vertical lifts (using the band)
Bent lifts (using the band)
All the way along, the (American) trainer gives positive encouragements like: “Remember, you’re in control!”, “Nice cadence!” but others made me cringe a little – “Work it!!”
I’ve not delved too far into the game yet. In fact, I think this is the most I’ve used it so far! It does have a ’30 day challenge’ mode which has all sorts of other exercises you can choose from I think, but I can’t use it every day anyway so I’m not sure when I’ll get to do those.
Anyway, I was sweating quite a bit by the time I’d finished, so I’d had a proper workout…which I hadn’t planned to do in the first place!
I will try and use it more though and stop it gathering shelf dust. It’s always good to mix things up a bit and try new stuff 🙂
